UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor watches fights with son Conor Jr

Produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV, Mayweather Vs. McGregor will take place on Saturday, August 26 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The 36-year-old American admitted that McGregor got the better of the two's first sparring session but claimed the Irishman failed to turn up to their second session.

"I have to try and make you look good".

"It's in a dilapidated neighborhood, It's a rundown house", Malignaggi told Ariel Helwani on "The MMA Hour" of the living quarters he had to share with McGregor's other sparring partners during his time in camp. "I remember when I was down I continued to trash talk".

Whether or not Malignaggi received permission to discuss the sparring sessions remains to be seen, but the answers he did provide to the media were generally favorable to the UFC champion.

"We had 12 rounds of sparring last night", he explained on his podcast, Paulie Malignaggi: From Brooklyn To The World.

McGregor's personal photographers posted images from their session that showed McGregor in a more favorable light, including photos of uppercuts to Malignaggi's face and one of Malignaggi on the canvas with McGregor looking over him. That's not what a fighter should want from somebody who spent time in the camp.

"From about six rounds on, he became very hittable", Malignaggi said. I said "there's no breaks here, you don't get no break" and started hitting him with more body shots and said "take those, they don't feel good". "That's what I wanted to find out the next time". My reactions and timing started to come back so I got way better from the first one.

However, it's probably much more likely that McGregor did indeed push Malignaggi to the floor and that the release of the photo has riled up the former boxer so much that he's doing his level best to destroy public confidence in McGregor by slating his boxing skills.

"It's great to add someone with Dan's knowledge of MMA to our coverage", Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith said. The fighter in camp does 12 straight, but when the fighter in camp does 12 straight he'll do like four with one guy then alternate and bring in another guy for five then maybe the last guy for three and so on and so forth.

When he got back to Las Vegas he was once again told that he's going to spar with McGregor the next day.

Mayweather's name recognition far surpasses that of Malignaggi, so it was never a bout that was seriously considered. "No more of these insane pictures, '" Malignaggi said. I put it like this, I've never been part of a 100 million dollar fight, but I've been part of multiple fights where there's been million dollar purses in there. I don't mind putting some leather on him.
