MA ticket wins $758M Powerball jackpot

Here in Tennessee players have won more than $1.8 billion in Powerball prizes since 2004, but there's always a chance there will be no victor.

Tickets will be sold until 7 p.m. Wednesday, with the draw taking place one hour later.

Someone in MA hit the jackpot Wednesday night - the second-biggest lottery jackpot in US history.

The largest jackpot was a $1.6-billion prize won in January 2016.

One lucky person in MA is sitting on the biggest winning lottery ticket in United States history.

The odds of a ticket having all six winning numbers are 292.2 million to 1, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. In the days leading up to the August 23 drawing, there were a number of stories about the jackpot and the long lines at stores as people stocked up on tickets.

According to news site Wicked Local, Handy Variety nearly sold another huge jackpot winning ticket in March of 2012. "I've paid winners who bought one ticket".

Millions of people across the country were anxiously awaiting the drawing for the Powerball lottery jackpot Wednesday night. Pacific Time, a victor hadn't come forward yet.

Wednesday's grand prize was the largest jackpot with a single victor in North American history.

"There's a 1 in 38.2 chance that you could win something", she said. "In addition to the MA jackpot victor, a whopping 40 tickets came within one number of sharing the prize, missing only the Powerball".

The largest purchase of Lottery tickets, Pitcock has seen, was about $100.

Powerball added numbers to the game in October 2015 so the jackpot would roll over more often and the prizes would be bigger.
