Cowboys stand for national anthem, no arm link or kneeling

The Los Angeles Rams responded with a Greg Zuerlein field goal on the ensuing possession.

If the Cowboys are to get this rushing attack on track, the Rams defense may just be what they need to see. The Cowboys went 13-3 last season. Jared Goff? The right choice as No. 1 pick.

Another question mark will be Sean Lee's availability.

The LA Rams don't have a big amount of players on their injury report, but some concerns are there for Sean McVay's team. The receiving corps, which added Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp this offseason, also looks risky. WR Dez Bryant has TD catch in all three career meetings with Rams, looking for third straight game with TD grab.

The Rams have given up an average of 33 points in the last two games against the Washington Redskins and San Francisco 49ers. Neither qualifies as a Super Bowl contender, leaving many to question the validity of the Los Angeles' strong start. Sullivan was not a starter in 2016 with the Redskins, but in 2015, he allowed just 2.5 sacks with the Vikings. Signal-caller Dak Prescott has developed in the pre-snap phase of the game and remains physically gifted as both a passer and runner. This week their matchup will be Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott who led the league in rushing a year ago. Last season, he appeared in 15 regular-season games for the playoff-bound Cowboys en route to registering 145 total tackles, one fumble recovery and one pass defense.

Dallas' defense did take a shot of its own this week.

"I mean he's going into the Roethlisberger plane of a quarterback that comes in and really plays well early", Phillips said. "With (RB) Todd (Gurley's) production, I know Todd would say the same thing he's been running well but he ain't running anywhere without any holes", Goff explained.

Offensively, the Rams are averaging 35.7 points and 374.3 total yards (279.0 in passing and 95.3 in rushing) per game.

The Cowboys haven't said what they plan to do in their first home game since Trump's comments after kneeling as a team before and standing during the anthem - both times locked arm in arm - prior to a 28-17 win at Arizona on Monday. But the Cowboys will control the clock and the line of scrimmage. The Rams defense has had its struggles over the last two weeks.

The Cowboys and players from most of the NFL's 32 teams protested during Week 3 after Trump made the following comments at a rally in Alabama: "Wouldn't you love to see one of these National Football League owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out". The team also has plenty of motivation with a challenging schedule ahead.

It was an explosive play, but it was also very risky.
