Top 5 Jaw-Dropping Moments From "Star Wars"

From Rey embracing her light sabre, to Phasma torching the place, to the late Carrie Fisher's final outing as General Leia Organa, the trailer is a treat for start to finish.

When director Rian Johnson revealed the official poster for The Last Jedi on Twitter last night prior to the trailer's debut, people were quick to point out there wasn't one Porg in sight.

The adventure fantasy also stars Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro, Andy Serkis, Billie Lourd, Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie. "Luke Skywalker, right now, is the last Jedi".

For anyone entering the Star Wars universe for the first time with this latest trilogy (wait, why?), the new trailer hints at obvious parallels to The Empire Strikes Back. But what's equally intriguing is what we don't see.

Yeah, the new sidekicks/creatures look well suited to slot in with fan faves BB8, R2-D2 and Chewie. "I guess partially because the answer-and this is going to sound like I'm being coy, but I swear I'm not-is, you do have to see the movie". We know he's talking about his former student-turned-traitor, Kylo Ren. Ren has shown pangs of guilt in the The Force Awakens and does so again when he appears to have second thoughts about blowing up Princess Leia's ship.

We then cut to Rey training with Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker on his exile island, as Luke accepts his old lightsaber from her, completing the moment that ended The Force Awakens, and accepting Rey as his student. He is heard saying the words "Fulfil your destiny' which could be meant for Kylo but there is also a scene where we can see Rey screaming in pain with Snoke force gripping her".

Disney acquired Lucasfilm and the "Star Wars" franchise from creator George Lucas in 2012 for $4 billion. (When Rey left for Ahch-To to find Luke, he was still unconscious.) In the trailer, Finn is seen in a containment pod, monitoring his status. She's terrified, but we quickly come to see her as a fast learner under Luke's tutelage.
